York College was originally founded in 1827 as the Mechanics' Institute. Following a merger between York College of Further and Higher Education and York Sixth Form College 1999, York College moved to a brand new ten acre site on the western edge of the city in 2007.
With a £60 million building housing first-class resources, York College is now one of York's most modern and recognisable buildings, and students benefit considerably from some of the region's finest learning facilities.
York College is based on one campus, located just off the A64. York has direct links with all parts of the country and is easily reachable via train, bus, car, or bicycle. Being based at one campus means that all our amazing facilities are easily accessible to all of our students including; Alan Ayckbourn Theatre, Inspired salon, and our sports facilities.
