Art School: Printmaking
This course is a great introduction to printmaking and is suitable for anyone who has prior knowledge of printmaking and a genuine interest.
After the initial introductions to the basic techniques of printmaking, you may have the opportunity to work on individual personal projects- negotiated through the tutor, or to continue to explore these techniques and processes further at a deeper, more exploratory level.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, and anyone can enrol. The course is intended for all levels, but a basic knowledge of the techniques and processes would be advantageous.
Course units
This course covers a wide variety of processes and techniques connected with Printmaking which may include:
- Reduction Lino
- Drypoint Etching
- Collagraph
- Monoprint
Assessments
There is no formal completion qualification and students will be able to work at their own pace. The course provides space, equipment and directed for students to produce sophisticated final pieces or just experimental outcomes.

Completion of this course will enable students to progress on to various other Art & Design courses available at York College.

Students will learn in a friendly and professional workshop environment with all appropriate health and safety provision.
Facilities
As well as specialist creative and art facilities, students have access to a fantastic range of College-wide facilities such as the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), study hubs, computer areas with accompanying multi-function printers and helpdesk advice.
Additional costs
All the basic equipment will be provided but you may need additional information or materials depending on the techniques covered, this will be discussed further before the start of the lessons.
Some courses could also require additional study from home, you may need access to a PC/laptop and suitable Wi-Fi to access teaching and learning. You will be made aware of any additional study time at the time of enrolment.
