Beauty Therapist Apprenticeship Level 2
If you want an exciting and varied career that enables you to work in a creative industry then beauty therapy could be for you. There is a demand across the country for skilled and qualified Beauty Therapists, and employers increasingly need committed, well trained and enthusiastic workers.
Entry requirements
You must be employed in a relevant role for a minimum of 30 hours per week. As a minimum, you should have 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and Maths. If you do not a have grade 4 or above in English and Maths, you will be required to work towards Level 2 Functional Skills in these subjects.
What will I study?
This apprenticeship will give you the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to work as a Beauty Therapist and will include the following:
Carrying out beauty therapy treatments in line with legal, industry and organisational requirements, maintaining honesty, integrity and confidentiality
Selecting, using and applying a range of beauty therapy techniques, products, tools and equipment to provide:
- waxing services (legs, underarms, face and bikini line)
- hand and nail treatments
- foot treatments
- facial skin care treatments
- eyelash and eyebrow treatments
- make-up application
- basic massage treatments (back, neck and shoulder)
Study will include working towards the Level 2 Diploma for Beauty Professionals - Beauty Therapist. You will build up a portfolio, which is a collection of examples or evidence of your work that demonstrates your skills and ability, such as a work diary, photos, statements from your employer and colleagues and examples of completed tasks.
Method of delivery
Apprentices attend College one day per week, and work for their employer the rest of the time. This apprenticeship takes 15 months to complete and will be followed by an End-Point Assessment. The apprentice may need to attend an extra block session for Functional Skills, Maths and/or English.
How will I be assessed?
Continual assessment will take place throughout the duration of the apprenticeship. If required, the Functional Skills are assessed through on-line tests
The End-Point Assessment (EPA) will comprise of a 60-minute computer- based knowledge test of 40 questions and a 5 hour observation of a range of beauty treatments.

There are no specific College programme related costs, however you will be advised of any additional costs during your application and enrolment process.

Good course combinations
It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, T Level or A Level programmes.
