VTCT (iTEC) Level 4 Certificate in Radio Frequency Treatments
The VTCT (iTEC) Level 4 Certificate in Radio Frequency Treatments is an advanced therapy qualification aimed at Level 3 qualified practitioners who wish to add this therapy to their repertoire of treatment offerings.
Entry requirements
Students are required to hold either the VTCT Level 2 Award in Facial Massage and Skin Care or VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Certificate in Facial Skincare (or equivalent) and a qualification in Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology.
Course units
Students will be required to complete the units below to gain the qualification:
- Principles and practice of non-medical aesthetic therapies
- Advanced consultation for non-medical aesthetic therapies
- Advanced skin care for non-medical aesthetic therapies
- Provide radio frequency treatments
Throughout this qualification, students will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant
anatomy and physiology and health and safety pertaining to Level 4 non-medical aesthetic therapies.
They will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to consult with and analyse clients
whilst providing radio frequency treatments.
In parallel, students will develop their communication and customer service skills and widen their knowledge of the principles and practices of Level 4 non-medical aesthetic therapies, all of which are valued highly by employers.

Study methods
This is a Level 4 qualification and students will need to demonstrate a variety of skills. Input and guidance will be provided by the tutor, face to face in College.
Facilities
York College have 2 large fully equipped hairdressing salons, an inviting commercial salon reception, 3 media make-up workshops and 2 beauty therapy salons. Adult learners will have access to professional products and equipment (including an advanced skin peeling product range).
Students have access to a fantastic range of College-wide facilities such as the Learning & Research Centre, study hubs, computer areas with accompanying multi-function printers and helpdesk advice.
Additional costs
Students will need to purchase uniform.
Students can purchase an optional skin kit.

Career progression
The primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare students for employment in the advanced non-medical aesthetic industry providing radio frequency treatments.
Additionally, students may choose to further develop their knowledge and skills by completing supplementary specialist qualifications at Level 4.
