VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology
The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in; how to provide manicure and pedicure treatments and how to apply and maintain nail enhancements.
Underpinning this qualification you will develop a sound knowledge of health and safety practice in a salon environment, how to promote client care and communication in beauty related industries and how maintain personal health and wellbeing when working with nail technology.
You will also develop an underpinning knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification.
Entry requirements
Level 1 English and Maths is required, as students will need to verbally communicate with clients and complete written work booklets and tests.

- Provide manicure treatments.
- Provide pedicure treatments.
- Apply and maintain nail enhancements.
- Client care and communication in beauty-related industries.
- Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon.
- Maintaining personal health and wellbeing.
- Display stock to promote sales in a salon.
- Promote products and services to clients in a salon.
- Enhance nails using electric file.
- Design and apply nail art.

Study methods
Tutor input and demonstrations are followed by practical application of skills and knowledge. Students will also complete written work.
Facilities
York College & University Centre offers 3 large fully equipped hairdressing salons, an inviting commercial salon reception, 2 media make-up workshops and 3 beauty therapy salons. Adult learners will have access to professional products and equipment.
Additional costs
Students will be required to purchase uniform.
Students will also be able to purchase an optional student kit.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in beauty therapy to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to perform your own salon services, in nail bars, salons or as a mobile nail technician.
