Performing & Production Arts (Acting) Extended Diploma Level 3
This course is suitable for students who love acting and may want to pursue a career on stage and screen.
The Extended Diploma is a very practical course. You will study a wide variety of acting styles, genres and practitioners such as Naturalism, Physical Theatre and Verbatim. You will be taught by industry professionals and experienced performing arts teachers who have extensive subject knowledge and experience. Students have the opportunity to take part in shows at The Alan Ayckbourn Theatre and attend workshops by visiting practitioners and trips including our annual London residential.
Entry requirements
A minimum of 5 subjects at grade 4 or above including English and/or Maths. Please note a relevant Level 2 Diploma will also be considered as part of the entry requirement.
As well as the general entry requirements for Vocational Level 3 courses, you will be required to attend an audition to demonstrate your performing arts skills and discuss your interest in the subject.
What will I study?
During the course you will study three projects per year which cover areas such as:

- Preparation for Specialist Study

- Developing Performance and Production Skills
- Exploration of Specialist Study and Context
Method of delivery
You will typically be in College three days per week. All units will be taught in a classroom/workshop environment.
How will I be assessed?
Over the two years of the course you will be assessed on a wide range of projects. The course is split 70% practical work and 30% written work. The course assessments are practical and performance related with an emphasis on personal reflection, analysis and research.
Good course combinations
This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.
Your next steps
An Extended Diploma in Acting, equivalent to three A Levels, can lead to further study in acting, theatre, drama, performing arts, and production arts, either at university or at a specialist college or conservatoire. This qualification is designed to lead to a career within the performing arts industry, be that in the field of practical performance, directing, writing, education or backstage.
