Performing & Production Arts (Dance & Musical Theatre) Extended Diploma Level 3
The Extended Diploma is a very practical course; students will study a wide variety of dance and musical theatre styles. You will be taught by industry professionals and experienced teachers who have knowledge, experience and excellent industry links with companies such as professional casting agencies, photographers including GB Dancestars and HOtography, Can You Dance? Move It and many more that will develop your ability and further your opportunities and career.
Entry requirements
A minimum of 5 subjects at grade 4 or above including English and/or Maths. Please note a relevant Level 2 Diploma will also be considered as part of the entry requirement.
As well as the general entry requirements for Vocational Level 3 courses, you will be required to attend an audition to demonstrate your performing arts skills and discuss your interest in the subject.
What will I study?
Students will study:
Year 1
Ballet, Contemporary, Commercial, Acrobatics, Singing, Acting, Musical Theatre, Physical Theatre, History of theatre, physiology, progression and many performance projects.
Year 2
Ballet, Contemporary, Commercial, Acrobatics, singing, Auditions and applications, Musical Theatre, Children’s Theatre and many performance projects.

A uniform list will be supplied on successful audition.
Method of delivery
You will typically be in College three days per week. All units will be taught in a classroom/workshop environment.
How will I be assessed?
Over the two years of the course you will be assessed on a wide range of practical projects. The emphasis of the course is split 80% practical and 20% written. The course assessments are practical and performance related with an emphasis on personal reflection, analysis and research.
Good course combinations
This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.
