Performing & Production Arts (Backstage Arts) Extended Diploma Level 3
This highly practical course allows students to explore areas such as Stage Management; Set Design & Construction; Sound Design; Lighting Design and Prop Making.
Entry requirements
A minimum of 5 subjects at grade 4 or above including English and/or Maths. Please note a relevant Level 2 Diploma will also be considered as part of the entry requirement.
What will I study?
A highly practical programme, you will learn by completing a range of projects and assignments based on realistic entertainment productions, activities and demands. All students will explore the following areas before finding a specialism:
- Stage Management
- Set Design & Construction
- Sound Design
- Lighting Design
- Prop Making
Method of delivery
You will typically be in College three days per week. All units will be taught in a classroom/workshop environment.
How will I be assessed?
Over the two years of the course you will be assessed on a wide range of projects. The course is split 70% practical work and 30% written work. The course assessments are practical and performance related with an emphasis on personal reflection, analysis and research.
Good course combinations
This is a full-time course. It is not possible to combine this course with other Vocational, Apprenticeship or A Level programmes.
